¡¡¡¡The Children¡¯s Hospital of Chongqing Medical University (CHCMU) was established in 1956 and is affiliated with the Chongqing Medical University (CMU). It is one of the top pediatric hospitals as well as leading research and teaching institutions in China. The CHCMU was one of the first pediatric departments in China to offer MD and PhD programs and postdoctoral trainings and is ranked as one of the bets in China. CHCMU current capacity is 1,400 beds on main campus (largest in China) and 250 beds on Lijia campus (planned 1,000 beds). Outpatient visits in 2014 were 2.18 Million and in-patient visits 65,000 for the same time period, 40% patients come from other cities or provinces out of Chongqing.
¡¡¡¡Among its 2,714 staff, the hospital has 250 faculties at ranks of full professor and associate professor. There are 26 PhD doctoral graduate supervisors. Many faculty members are actively involved in Chinese national professional societies and hold leadership positions in Chinese Pediatric Societies within the Chinese Medical Association. As a comprehensive pediatric hospital, CHCMU is designated as the only one in the region that is qualified for providing medical care for foreign nationals. It is also a major national centre for pediatric critical care, asthma, laser applications, intensive care for newborns and premature babies.
¡¡¡¡The hospital has 28 clinical divisions and departments that provide services ranging from internal and surgical medicine, infection and digestion, critical care, ENT, stomotology, ophthalmology, stomatology, psychology. It is the leading institution in China for.

CHCMU trains about 200 MD or PhD graduate students and 100 speciality fellows each year. The students and fellows come from all parts of the country. The hospital is designated by State Ministry of Health as one of the training centers offering standard professional training for residents, nurses and other medical staff members. It is the largest training centre for pediatricians. The Pediatric Research Institute of CHCMU is the base for the pediatric research, and has four key research areas based on development and disease.

¡¡¡¡For three of these areas outstanding overseas scholars have been recruited as directors. Each has 4-6 PIs including basic scientists and clinicians scientists. Research in immunology ranks the first in the nation. The research in the areas of neurology, oncology, nutrition and critical care are also nationally recognized. CHCMU has extensive international programs. Each year, CHCMU invites over 40 overseas scholars for academic exchange and sends over 50 faculty members for overseas training and attending meetings. There is a well-developed teleconference system to foster clinical and research interactions internationally.
¡¡¡¡The Pediatric Research Institute of CHCMU is the base for the pediatric research. As one of the primer medical research institutions in Chongqing, its research programs focusing on development and disorders are nationally recognized. The research team includes talents and experts from University of British Columbia, Canada and other esteemed institutes. Some of them was awarded the honorary titles such as ¡°Two Rivers Scholar of Chongqing¡±, ¡°Scholars of Thousand ¡° by central government of China and ¡°Yangtze Scholar¡± by Ministry of Education. The hospital has been awarded with many research grants from the National Natural Science Foundation, the ¡°State 863 Plan¡±, NIH of USA, and International Nutrition Research Foundation. In recent five years, the hospital received 10 collaborative grants of ¡°State 863 Plan¡±, ¡°the State Science and Technology Supporting Plan¡±, ¡°Project of Health Industry¡±. The faculty at CHCMU won the first prize for science and technology advance in Chongqing, prize for pediatric achievements of Songqingling Foundation, and over 30 awards of Chinese Medical Prize. The faculty published 453 CSCD and 200 SCI research papers in the last 3 years and edited The Journal of Pediatric Pharmacy and Pediatric Ontology.
¡¡¡¡The hospital has extensive international collaborations with cooperative relationship with institutes in over 20 countries including USA, UK, Canada, and Australia. CHCMU has been collaborating closely with nearly 50 Chinese medical organizations. Its delegations regularly attend the International Pediatric Congress and CHCMU hosted five international conferences in the past three years.
¡¡¡¡The hospital has been actively involved in charity activities including ¡°Tomorrow Plan¡±, ¡°Smiling Train¡±, ¡°Reborn Action¡±, ¡°Leukemia Foundation¡± sponsored by either governmenlt or non-profit foundations. In 2009 ¡°Funds of Little Angel¡± was established to assist disadvantaged children for their medical needs.
